"I can no more disown Reverend Wright than I can disown the black community."h, really?
But you did disown Reverend Wright when it became politcally expedient for you to do so.
"Can no more disown him than...."
This person you disowned wasn't someone you just met and didn't know.
He was your "spiritual adviser" for the last twenty years. The pastor of the church you chose to join. The same pastor you chose to join your wife and you in the bonds of holy matrimony. The pastor you chose to baptize both your children. The pastor whose sermon line, "audacity of hope," you chose to use for the title of your book — the book that "helped make (you) a mega-best-selling, two-time Grammy-winning millionaire front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination at age 46."
"Can no more disown him than...."
But then he committed the unpardonable sin of stepping on your spotlight.
So you chose to immediately disown him.
"Can no more disown him than...
I can disown the black community."
So when are we going to hear you expediently say that "it's not the black community that I thought I knew" before you disown it too?
After hearing another “inartful” lyric by "one of (your) favorite rappers"?
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shattered 'em
Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
Watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!
Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw 'em like candy wrap
Cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
And you the worst of all 43 presidents
Get out and vote or the end will be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!
Cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!
"Here" disowning everyone who "would think that somehow it was appropriate to command
the [my] stage" and who therefore "makes me angry."
Even after promising emphatically, "No, I can't" disown someone, you did. You chose that "change I need" for your own political career's sake — for your own "hope" of political advancement and personal power.
You disowned Reverend Wright. Therefore,
Yes, "I can disown the black community."
Traitor.
Indeed, no member of the black community who possesses more than an ounce of self respect can hope to support you without wondering when in some not-too-distant politically expedient future "you've been waiting for," he or she will be forced to disown his or her ever having voted for your sorry, flip-flopping, back-turning, promise-breaking, lying, greedy, shady, out-of-touch, incompetent, dangerous "self."
